Received in trade for a
Chevy pickup was this 1983 J-10. Little did I know it was a ticking time
bomb. I found that the bell housing had cracked and fried the clutch so
it wouldn't turn. I welded the bell housing up and dropped in a new clutch. Thanks to NBM's help, we slapped the transmission and transfer case
back in place in no time. The truck was running like a champ. I was
getting better gas mileage in this FSJ (Full Size Jeep) than in my YJ.
About two weeks later it started knocking. On my way to my good friend
Dave's (akjeep) to have it checked out, not 2 miles from my house, a rod
went flying through the oil pan. I still drove it home, minus one piston
and a hole bunch of oil. I took some spare AMC 360s and parts to Dave's
shop. My thanks to Dave and all his help getting this back together.
