I traded my good friend Kevin (Chevy Kev) a Chevy pickup for an 83 Jeep J-10 that wouldn't turn over.
Little did I know it was a ticking time bomb. I found that the bell housing had cracked and fried the clutch
so it wouldn't turn. I welded the bell house up and dropped a new clutch in it. Thanks to NBM's help
we slapped the transmission and transfer case back in place in no time. The truck was running like a champ.
I was getting better gas mileage in this FSJ (Full Size Jeep) than in my YJ. About two weeks later it
started knocking.
On my way to have it checked out, not 2 miles from my house, a rod went flying through
the oil pan. I still drove it home, minus one piston and a hole bunch of oil. I have 5 other AMC 360's
around the house. So I took one in to my friend Dave's shop (akjeep), but no good. So I grabbed a
different one, also from Kevin. This one also had a broken rod but was bored 40 over and had new
freeze plugs. So this is the one I built.
The cool thing is that it still ran when I pulled the engine. My thanks to Dave and all his help getting this back together.
