40" Goodyear MTR install on Marsh
17"x10" Beadlocks
by Holeproof Industries

The 40"
Tire.
Place the wheel on a flat clean surface with the bead lock ring up.
Remove the beadlock ring assembly from the wheel,
setting the outer ring, and bolts aside.
Lubricate both beads of the tire with a good
bead sealer or other vegetable based bead lubricate. Now place the
tire on top of the wheel & shove it downward over
the top of the wheel. This was much easier then I had thought it
would be to do. You may need to give it a twist to
get it to start over the outer bead. The top bead of the tire should
now be sitting on top of the wheel, Center the tire on the top
portion of the wheel.
Lay the outer beadlock
ring on top of the tire & visually line up the bolt holes. Start bolts
at the 12 o'clock & 6 o'clock positions &
then the 3 o'clock & 9 o'clock positions.
Tighten them just a little by hand.
This will allow you to align &
center the tire prior to snugging the bolts down some more. After
installing all the bolts, this will be your final
opportunity to check the centering of the tire. You may find that one or two bolts don’t tread in
well, just skip them and come back as the other bolts are tightened
down. The more the bolts are tightened the more
the tire bead is centered allowing the bolts that where hard before to
free up.
Using a speed handle or ratchet snug all the bolts in the same order
in which you installed them.
Get the torque wrench out & set it to 15 foot pounds for the 3/8"
OFF-ROAD bolts. Each beadlock bolt should be torqued at least THREE TIMES.
Inflate the tire by using a remote air chuck and stand way back.
TIRES & WHEELS CAN EXPLODE & KILL YOU GRAVEYARD DEAD! YOU CANNOT
RECHECK THE TORQUE TOO OFTEN!

The rear bead needs to be sealed. I found that if you set the wheel on top of a 5-gallon bucket face up,
connect a remote air chuck and then push down on the tire the bead
would seal.

This
means that no air or very little air is leaking out, the bead is not
set yet! Stand back and wait. You should here a load "pop" this is the
bead seating. You don’t want to be around the tire when it does this,
as it is possible that it will blow right off the rim, or pinch a hand
if holding the tire. Out of the 5 sets I did only one did not pop, but
I could see it slowly seat. If there is no pop after a few seconds
stop, pull the air chuck off and check making sure you do not place
your hands or feet near the rear of the bead or rim.
Check for leaks with soapy water. After following these procedures you
will be ready to install it on the vehicle.
Again! Each beadlocks bolt should be torqued at least THREE TIMES. I
spent the day driving around and re-torquing them ever few stops. This
has to be done for some time until the tire and beadlock ring is fully
seated. I then had them static balanced.
40"MTR vs. 33" MTR
Unlike most off-road tires that don't live up the what is stamped on
the sidewall.
The 40x13.50R17 Goodyear MTR
does. On the YJ 40" @ 25PSI. 38 1/4" @ 12psi.
If you are interested in the 40"
MTR We can have them delivered for $480.00 a tire.
YOU CANNOT CHECK THE TORQUE ON BEAD-Loc
WHEEL BOLTS TOO OFTEN!

These rims are really nice. I spent a lot of
time looking and searching for beadlocks info on the net. The ring
is as thick as the rim, which is 3/16" thick. The bolts don’t float
like the DIY kits. The ring is formed just like the outer bead of
the rim. I would recommend these to anyone looking for new rims be
it beadlocks or normal rims.
